I’ve talked with veterans, seniors, and working families in our community and one of their biggest concerns is healthcare costs. Living in one of the wealthiest nations in the world, members of our community should not have to worry how they’re going to pay for their healthcare and their rent or mortgage every month. I believe that ALL Minnesotans should have access to high-quality, affordable healthcare, and that we can work together to make this a reality.
Minnesota has been an innovator in the field of healthcare in the past, and it’s time that we do it again. We have the information and resources that we need to make our healthcare system less complex and more affordable. I support a MinnesotaCare buy-in option as a first step toward creating a system that works better for everyone.
We can and should do more to increase prescription drug price transparency for consumers in Minnesota. I will support legislation similar to bills introduced in previous legislative sessions, including legislation that would establish a website to compare medication costs, require drug companies to file annual reports with MDH outlining the costs associated with creating high-cost prescription drugs, and permit pharmacists to tell patients if they are overpaying for their prescription medications.
